Performance textiles are designed to have enhanced performance characteristics, such as water repellency, stain resistance and breathability. Traditional water repellency techniques (e.g. dip-applied chemicals and taped seams) have been shown to swiftly lose their effectiveness under ‘real-wear’ conditions. ion-mask™ gives complete items (even the stitching) superior liquid repellent properties, helping to stop external water getting in, while encouraging perspiration to evaporate without being absorbed. Items dry out more quickly and won’t get heavier over time.
In eye wear, ion-mask™ offers superior water repellency, greater uniformity and better adhesion compared to existing coatings. The technology ensures effective water shedding from lenses for active sports and therefore prevents drying stains, which can result in scratches and smudging when wiped. ion-mask™ also has anti-misting qualities, while oil repellency reduces the buildup of smears from skin oils and lotions without affecting light transmission.
