ion-mask™ shortlisted in 2008 Sports Industry Awards
21 April 2008
Just months after scooping an Innovation award at the ISPO show in Munich, ion-mask™ has been nominated for yet another of the industry’s most prestigious awards. The revolutionary superhydrophobic technology has been shortlisted for The Lenovo Technological Innovation in Sport Award’ for its application to the Hi-Tec Altitude V hiking boot – the first time the technology has been made available to the public.
“The Sport Industry Awards are the highest accolade in the sports industry,” explains P2i Ltd’s Business Development Director Dr Ian Robins. “Just to get shortlisted is a huge achievement, putting us up there with the likes of Nike, Shell and Speedo. For the past eighteen months we’ve been telling the world that ion-mask™ represents the future of performance textiles enhancement and clearly the message has been received, loud and clear.”
Hi-Tec is P2i's first footwear customer for the new technology with other high street names due to follow in the near future. The benefits of ion-mask enhancement are already widely recognised in the fields of bio-consumables, filtration and electronics with a number of mobile phone companies already trialling the technology to waterproof their gadgets.
The SIA results will be announced on Thursday 1 May 2008.
